Satyaki PRV
Principal Investigator

I studied mouse forebrain development my MS in the Tole Lab (TIFR, Mumbai). During my PhD in the Barbash Lab (Cornell University), I uncovered a role for Drosophila hybrid incompatibility genes in regulating transposons and satellite DNA. I studied epigenetics and seed development in the Gehring Lab (Whitehead Institute/MIT) for my Postdoc.  I like history, and science fiction.

Naiyara Ahsan
PhD Student

I study structural variation and DNA methylation in plants. My past research experience includes investigating biomarkers and interventional outcomes in vascular disorders, as well as gene expression patterns in leukemia & Drosophila embryogenesis.

Aysha Hussain
MSc Student

I study seed size in Arabidopsis thaliana.

Alefiyah Bahrainwala
PhD student

I use genomic tools to study parent of origin effects on seed development. During my BSc at U of T St. George, I studied immunology in the Juvet lab. I worked on the effects of acute allograft dysfunction (ALAD) on TGFβ and IFNγ following lung transplantation in patient-derived cells. However, I saw the light after taking a plant development course. I worked with Dr. Nambara, where I characterized the effect of MYB36 co-expressed genes on lignin.
